Noble Mak is currently a Master of Journalism student at The University of Hong Kong.
Noble was born and raised in Hong Kong. She developed an interest in journalism since her high school days, when she read English news and commentaries with the simple goal of improving her language skills. Eventually, the exposure to the many writing styles and the reporting of local and global issues became a great source of inspiration. Although she later went on to study law, her interest in journalism did not quite fade. She regained momentum in pursuing formal training in journalism at the time of the social movements in 2019-2020, when society was highly polarised and the role of journalism itself became controversial yet ever more important.
Noble hopes to produce clear and coherent writing that explores social issues at a meaningful depth, as well as gain a deeper understanding of global issues and international affairs. She also looks forward to hands on experience in other forms of production, including audio, video, television news and documentary production.
Noble completed her Bachelor of Laws at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2014, and the PCLL programme at the University of Hong Kong in 2015. She is admitted to practise law in Hong Kong and New York.
Noble enjoys bouldering, rock climbing, aerial yoga and field hockey. When the weather cools down, she goes out hiking and camping. She is also passionate about cantopop music and plays in a band.
