On August 23, 2021, the redevelopment of the Central Market, which cost more than 500 million yuan, was finally officially opened for trial operation, attracting many people to visit and take pictures.

The Facebook account “空城記 Empty City” has been following Central Market for many years and has been to filming many times. After the Central Market opened, he visited again for shooting and compiled 25 contrast photos from different angles to share with everyone.

The Central Market is a third-class historical building completed in 1939 in Hong Kong. After its suspension in 2003, the Central Market was still favored by movie shooting. Two sets of Hong Kong-produced films, “Dragon Loaded” (2003) and “Divergence” (2005), were filmed in the Central Market.

In 2009, the Hong Kong government consulted on reconstruction, and construction began in 2017. After the redevelopment of the Central Market, the ground-level atrium is retained, and the beige exterior wall presents the original concrete open-column-style structure.
