Hurricane Ida is an extraordinarily powerful and deadly category 4 hurricane that has caused catastrophic flooding, power outrages, and life threatening conditions across the north-east of the US.
It is reported that Ida is the second most damaging hurricane to strike the U.S. state of Louisiana on record, next only to Hurricane Katrinas which happened 16 years ago.
On September 12, the death toll in Louisiana officially rose to 26, but public health experts say the true toll is likely to be much higher.
