Leila Zhou is a current student of Master of Journalism program at Hong Kong University. She is working to be a business/financial journalist after graduation.
Leila a graduate of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and she majored in international journalism and English literature.
During her undergraduate study, Leila was awarded The National Outstanding Undergraduate Prize. And then she received a reward of full scholarship by China Scholarship Council and studied as an exchange student at the University of Lancaster.
Leila has worked for the student publication of BFSU, 107 Investigation, as a writer, editor and photo journalist. She covered stories about the East Old Summer Palace urban village in Haidian, Beijing and the affiliated school football team of Beijing Institute of Technology etc.
After graduated from BFSU, Leila worked at the Global MBA program of Cheung Kong Graduate School (CKGSB). She was the program assistant and teaching assistant at the program.
At CKGSB, she worked closely with globally renowned business professors and MBA students across the world. And this work experience cultivated her interest in covering China’s economic rise and challenges, especially in the increasingly competitive and integrated global economy era.
Leila’s study in MJ at HKU will prepare her with not only professional and advanced journalistic skills, but also media ethic and critical mindset to present multimedia report for news organisations with high quality. To achieve her goal, Leila is taking courses on Reporting and Writing, Digital Journalism and Data Journalism etc.
Leila is also a part-time RYT200 yoga instructor, with special enthusiasm in practicing Ashtanga and Flow yoga.
