Stone Nullah Lane is a street located in the Wanchai district, Hong Kong. In the 18th century, there used to be a stone aqueduct near Stone Nullah Lane, hence the lane got its name. At that time, people lived a traditional and simple life relying on the aqueduct. Though the aqueduct was gradually filled up in the 1920s, the residents of Stone Nullah Lane still maintain some traditional way of living.
When the Mid-Autumn Festival arrived, residents of the community got involved in the homemade lantern competition. They used materials at home, such as plastic bottles, colored paper and cardboard boxes, to make gorgeous lanterns. As one of the traditional custom of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the lantern competition in Stone Nullah Lane is in full swing.
