Yiying Wang is 26, born and grew up in Kunming, a beautiful southwest city in Yunnan.
Through her undergraduate study in Spanish Literature from Beijing Language and Culture University and her postgraduate study in Sociology from the University of Barcelona, she recognized that it has always been a passion for her to be a journalist. So she engaged in many media-related activities.
She compiled 20+ international news reports and produced 30+ small videos related to global financial issues while interning at the CCTV Finance Channel. When she served as the director of Beijing Language and Culture University’s broadcasting station, she produced 100+ radio programmes, including writing and editing manuscripts. It was this experience that made her wonder what exactly shaped the individual and individual behavior.
During the study in Spain for sociology afterward, she conducted various independent and group research projects on a variety of topics, including gender inequalities, digital democracy, social movement, and family policy studies. By immersing herself into the disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences, she developed her critical thinking and empowered her analytic muscle. Moreover, her trans-language and trans-cultural experience helped her to adjust her own language when interacting with others, and respect others’ backgrounds without prejudice and biases.
Now, Yiying is learning in JMSC proudly and fully prepared. The master’s programme in journalism (MJ) at JMSC is the ideal academic and professional development space for her to achieve her career goal. With such invaluable resources and beyond, she is confident that she can continue her journey on a higher level.
