Yuexiao Sun is a postgraduate student in journalism at the University of Hong Kong. She comes from Xi’an, an ancient capital of China. She graduated from the Journalism Department of Guangxi University in June 2021. During her undergraduate course, she exchanged a semester at Missouri State University. These experiences let her not only deeply understand Chinese culture, but also have a global vision. In the university, she worked as a reporter of the college newspaper, the anchor of English radio of Guangxi University and the department leader of new media channel of Guangxi University. These experiences made her familiar with the reporting methods of traditional news, and also let her know how to operate the new media account, and have certain organization and management ability.
She took multiple internships in the industry. In the Economic Center of Xinhuanet Co., Ltd, she made and executed creative plans of media products, editing promotional videos and photography in PhotoShop, compiling advertisements, and transferring market information into well-organized data visualization. Besides, she was a journalist intern in Huashang Media Group and she did interviews, and wrote news articles, including hard news and features. During the internship, she published over 70 articles on diversified renowned platforms. It laid a solid cornerstone for me in interviewing and writing in Chinese.
In her spare time, she actively participates in various school activities. She loves dancing. She has won the collective second prize of “Guangxi University Cheerleading Competition” and has participated in school performances for many times. At the same time she is keen to understand different cultures, so she joined the International Exchange Association of Guangxi University. During that time, she assisted the president to hold Halloween parties and “cultural corner”.
